  • Marjorie Jean Lambdin, 92, formerly of Bluefield, West Virginia, and most recently of Utah, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024, in Utah.
  • Born on September 13, 1931, in Bluefield, WV, Marjorie was the daughter of Howard A. Surface and Lucy M. (Hall) Surface. She was the eldest of three children and grew up alongside her two younger twin sisters, Janice (Surface) Riffe and Joyce (Surface) Perry, both of whom predeceased her. After graduating from Bramwell High School in 1949, she attended McLane Business School in Bluefield, WV, where she earned an associate degree in bookkeeping. On December 28, 1951, she married Robert L. Lambdin of Princeton, WV; they later divorced.

    Marjorie lived most of her life in Sandlick, WV, where she lovingly cared for her parents during the last 20 years of their lives. A devoted single mother, she dedicated herself to her family and faith. A lifelong member of Sandlick Methodist Church, Marjorie was a steadfast follower of Jesus Christ and shared her faith with all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and church community.

    She is survived by her two children and their spouses: Robert H. Lambdin and wife Susan (Taylor) Lambdin, and Debra J. (Lambdin) Watts and husband Richard D. Watts. Marjorie was a proud grandmother to three grandchildren: Richard G. Watts and wife Tami (Williams) Watts, Laura (Lambdin) Stevens, and Lisa (Lambdin) Parkinson. She also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren: Richie Watts, Carter Watts, Alora Watts, Roman Watts, Willow Watts, Alexandria Stevens, and Emily (Stevens) Blizzard; and three great-great-grandchildren: Levi Stevens, Bailey-Rose Blizzard, and Charlotte Blizzard.

    Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Melody Rickman officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Princeton, WV. 

  • Friends may call prior to services, from 1:00-2:00, at the funeral home.
