Marilyn Hypes

Marilyn Davis Hypes, 89, of Mercer Mall Road, Bluefield, WV, passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Loving Hands Adult Care.

Born on November 26, 1929 in Peterstown, she was a daughter of the late John J. and Evelyn Bower Davis. She had been a resident of Bluefield for 73 years and was a member of the First Christian Church where she was active in Sunday School and sang in the choir. She was a graduate of Peterstown High School and the WV Business College. She was a retired office manager for the Mutual Insurance Company.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Wilson Hypes; two brothers, John G. Davis and Duane L. Davis; and sister, Ramona Semones.

Survivors include:

2 sons: Donald Wayne Hypes of Princeton
James Ronald (Gale) Hypes of Bluefield

3 grandchildren: Jamie Gail Hypes and partner Julie Provencal
Leah Jane Hypes and partner Eric Swisher
Stephen Matthew (Shanley) Hypes

Great grandchildren: Olivia, Jude, Owen and Tucker

Brother: Walter Eugene (Sheila) Davis of Winston-Salem, NC

Sister in law: Leota Davis of Bluefield, VA

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Pastor Douglas McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call on Saturday from 1:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home.
