Margaret Ellen Linkous

October 8, 1918 — September 19, 2017

BLUEWELL – Margaret Ellen Linkous, 98, affectionately known as “Nana M ”  by grandchildren and great-grandchildren, passed this life into her eternal heavenly home at Westwood Nursing Home on September 19, 2017,  surrounded by family. Born on October 8, 1918, in Ada, West Virginia, daughter of the late William and Florence, “Bessie” (Sparks) Wimmer, she lived all her life in Mercer County, 72 yrs on Lorton Lick Road from the early years of her marriage to Marvin C. Linkous who preceded her in death in 2000.  She attended Mid-way Christian Church as their oldest member.  Also preceding her death were four sisters, two brothers and one grandson.  She was the last member of her family.  Left to remember her include daughter Linda (Linkous) Winners of Roanoke, Virginia, Delores (Linkous) Jones and Hamilton Jones of Bluefield, sons, Gary Linkous of Bluefield, David Linkous and wife, Evelyn of Bluefield, grandsons, Geordan Winners, of Roanoke Virginia, Michael Linkous and wife, Melissa of Bluefield, Thomas Linkous and wife Bethany of Advance, N.C. ,  Great – grandchildren, Andrew ,Mikayla, Katelyn and Ryan Linkous and special nieces, nephews and loving friends. Special remembrances are her love for flowers, especially irises and Christmas cacti and those in her outdoor garden.  She enjoyed baking and sharing her “famous” butterscotch and chocolate pies, fruit cakes and homemade rolls.  She loved to laugh, enjoyed gospel music, her church, and her friends, and especially neighbors who visited her often.  Always quick witted, she always had an appropriate “comeback” or word of wisdom for every situation. Her love for her Savior, Jesus Christ, was evident in the life she lived and the love she showed to everyone. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 22, 2017 at the Midway Christian Church on U.S. 460, Bluefield, West Virginia, with Pastors Dan Webb of Midway Christian Church and David Dockery of First Baptist Princeton officiating.  Visitation will be from 11:30 to 1:00 prior to the service.  Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens immediately following the service.  Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Midway Christian Church Building Fund, 3014 Big Laurel Highway, Bluefield, WV 24701, or the First Baptist Church Princeton Building Fund, 1611 Mercer Street, Princeton, WV  24740   Online condolences will be accepted at www.cravens-shires.com
