Magdalene Josephine Harris, 85, of Nemours, WV, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus Monday, February 19, 2024.
Born November 2, 1938, in Matoaka, WV, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Nola Shrewsbury Akers. Magdalene was a resident of Nemours for several years and was a homemaker. She was a dedicated child of God. Magdalene devoted her life to Christ, faith, and family. She was considered the “neighborhood mamaw” to the Niswander, Solis, Brown, Smith and Hatahet families.
In addition to her parents, Magdalene was preceded in death by her husband, John Arthur Harris; son, John E. Harris; daughter-in-law, Tammy Harris; and siblings, Walton, Shelby, Teddy, Ann, and Barbara.
Magdalene leaves behind daughter, Josephine McClanahan and husband Jack of Bluefield, WV; daughter-in-law, Deborah Harris of Nemours; grandchildren, Aramus, John, Ryan, Alison, Austin, Gage, Madison, Steven, and Eric; 15 great grandchildren; sisters, Doris Cordle and husband Eddie, Thelma Shrewsbury and husband David, and Evelyn Stables; and many nieces and nephews also survive.
Magdalene lived a very blessed life and in return, she blessed many people.
Funeral services will be held, Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Pastor Rick Mathena officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens in Princeton, WV, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
A visitation will be held an hour prior to services from 10:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home.
