Lucy Mae O'donnell Hodges, 90, of Bluefield WV was gently carried to Heaven on the wings of angels on September 20, 2021.
Born October 10, 1930 in Crystal WV she was the daughter of Robert O'donnell and Beulah Brown. Left behind to cherish her memory are her loving children Robert Hodges, Deborah Phelps (Mack), and Kathy Price (Jim); daughter-in-laws Sue Hodges and Dorothy Hodges; grandkids Angela Whittaker, Mack Phelps II, Melissa Clower, Tonya Sharp, Rhonda Jarvis, Jami Price, Amanda Pennington, Christina Fitko, Sandra Hodges, James Hodges, Jeffrey King, Amber King, Kasey Hodges, and Tori King; great grandkids Cliff, Shawn, Hannah, Samantha, Mackenzie, Emily, Jason, Nick, Leann, Tyler, Michael, Kailee, Annabelle, Brayden, Abbi, Kortney, Alex, Colton, Hunter, Skylar, Tucker, and Tanner; great great grandson Camdyn; special friend Marsha Childers; siblings Norma Zonar and Bud O'donnell; and her four-legged best friend and baby Jade.
Lucy was a member of Fountain of Life Tabernacle where she led song service and taught children's church for many years. She enjoyed listening to her son-in-law Jim Price preach and would always look forward to his service. Lucy loved to act silly with her grandkids and great grandkids; laughing, yelling, making faces, singing, and staying young alongside them. In her younger years Lucy enjoyed working with flowers, cooking Sunday dinner for her entire family and spending time with them, playing badminton in the yard, going to church picnics and singings, and caring for others. Her family remembers her as a loving, soft-hearted, humble person who was the center of their world.
The pallbearers for her service will be Mack Phelps I, Mack Phelps II, James Hodges Jr., Travis Jones, Michael Sharp, and Philip Pruitt; honoraries will include Jason Dillon, Jim Price, Mason Dalton, and Tony Ware.
To honor her memory Lucy's family has all came together to do special dedications for this precious soul. Her grandson James Hodges Jr. will play Amazing Grace on the saxophone and his wife Ashley Hodges will read a poem her children wish to dedicate to their beautiful mother. Wilfire Honey (Tracey, Autumn, and Amanda) and Kevin O'donnell and Alyssa Marcellais will be singing.
Family will receive guests on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 from 6:00-8:00pm at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell WV.
