Louise Ann Collins, 72, of Dawson School Road, Bluefield, WV, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on April 18, 1945 in Roanoke, VA, she was the daughter of the late Stanley Gray Rogers, II and Glenna Louise Patteson. Lou Ann was a 1963 graduate of Bluefield High School and a graduate of the West Virginia University nursing school. Lou Ann worked as a registered nurse for nearly 40 years. She was the first in West Virginia to be certified in rehabilitation nursing in 1987. Major Collins was a 21 year veteran of the United States Army Reserves where she served as a nurse. Lou Ann’s passions in life were serving others as a mother, grandmother, wife, nurse, and veteran. Lou Ann also enjoyed showing horses, her Jack Russells and traveling the world with her mother. Survivors include: Husband: Gerald R. Collins of the home Sons: Charles Gray Haislip and wife Bridgett of Glenville, GA Michael Rogers Collins and wife Crystal of Bluefield Matthew Raymond Collins of Bluefield 4 grandchildren: Charles McKenzie Haislip, Raymond Kerry Rogers Collins, Anabelle Lynn Collins, and Annalee Raye Collins Brother: Stanley Gray Rogers, III and wife Susan of Wilmington, NC Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at 7:30 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Pastor Shawn White officiating. Friends may visit on Sunday from 6:00-7:30PM at the funeral home. Graveside services will be conducted on Monday, October 23, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Knottsville Cemetery in Grafton, WV.
