Lloyd Douglas "Doug" Johnson

Lloyd Douglas “Doug” Johnson, age 80, of Bluewell, WV died on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at his home.

Born on March 3, 1942, in Marytown, WV, he was a son of the late Bill and Dorothy Dinguss Johnson. He was a US Navy veteran and had lived most of his life in Bluefield. He had worked at Bailey Lumber Company until it closed and Morres Lumber Company until it’s closing. He finally retired with Bluestone Security Company as a security guard for Ramey Motors. He absolutely loved fishing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Howard Johnson and Fred Johnson; sisters, Martha Damron and Paula Caride; and a half-brother, James Cantrell.

Daughter: Dorothy Rena Cochran and husband Marty of Springville, VA

                  Wayne Johnson and wife Estella of Rocky Mount, VA

                  Randy Johnson of Louisville, KY

Sisters: Mary Riffe and husband Robert of Bluewell, WV

              Brenda Sue Medellin and husband Al of Canton, MI

              Pamela Johnson of Marytown, WV

              Sandy Hall of Hensley, WV

              Phyllis Perkins and husband Larry of Hensley, WV

4 granddaughters, 1 grandson, 2 great-granddaughters, and 1 great-grandson

He is also survived by a long-time special friend, Anna Stevenson.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Rodger Boothe officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Friends may call on Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
