Lee Ann Meekins

Lee Ann Meekins, 93, of Grandbury, Texas formerly of McDowell County, West Virginia passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at the home of her grandson.

Lee was born on December 14, 1926 in McDowell Co., West Virginia to the late Vernon Boyd Burks and Cynthia E. Burks. Lee was born a raised in McDowell Co., West Virginia and late in life was able to reside in both Connecticut and South Carolina before moving to Texas to reside with her grandson. Lee loved to Garden and loved flowers but most of all sewing, she loved to sew and made sure all her daughters knew how to sew.

In addition to her parents’ she was precede in death by her husband Herman Lee Kipfinger; two children, LeAnn Hillard and Gerry Fields; as well as her three sisters and two brothers. She was the last serving member of her siblings.   

Left to cherish Lee’s memory are her two sons, Larry Kipfinger and wife Felicia of Roanoke, Virginia, Jack Kipfinger of Bluefield, West Virginia; three daughters, Cynthia Ruse and husband Frank of Summersville, South Carolina, Helen Harmon of Bluefield, West Virginia and Kelly “Peachy” Kennedy of Dayton, Ohio. She is also survived by her 32 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 20, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluefield (Bluewell), West Virginia with Minister Eddie Made officiating the service. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluefield (Bluewell), West Virginia where her family will be serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, January 20, 2020 from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
