Lawrence Eugene Head, Sr.

Lawrence Eugene Head, Sr., 93, of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Anawalt, WV, passed Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Jefferson County Nursing Home in Dandridge, TN.

Born June 22, 1930, in Middlesboro, KY, he was the son of the late Caney and Hattie McQuire Head. Lawrence retired from US Steel, working as a heavy equipment mechanic.

In addition to his parents, Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Jean Head and son, Lawrence “Eugene” Head, Jr.

Those left to cherish Lawrence’s memory are his daughters, Vicky Heffinger and husband Jack of Anawalt, WV, Kimberly Byrd and husband Ed of Dandridge, TN, and Susan Harris and husband Gary of Middlesboro, KY; son, Jeffery Head and wife Lisa of Walkertown, NC; 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 2:00 PM with Rev. Donnie Farmer officiating at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell, WV. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell, WV, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Friends may call one hour prior to services from 1:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lawrence’s honor to Long Point Missionary Baptist Church, PO Box 50 Anawalt, WV 24808, where he held various offices during his years of membership.
