Laura Joan Adkins McNeely

Laura Joan Adkins McNeely, 74 years old, of 141 Jenny Street, Bluefield, WV, departed this life on November 7, 2024, in her home with her family by her side. 

Laura (Joann) was born on August 2, 1950-, in Robinette, WV. Laura was the daughter of the late Clarence and Georgia Adkins of Robinette, WV. 

Laura was a very special and loving lady. Her family was her happiness. Her greatest blessings were her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Laura loved Jesus and was a Christian. She had a deep Faith and trust in her Heavenly Father. She loved to know what the daily prayer was and for her journey home to Heaven today it was Luke, Chapter 10 verse 2 " the harvest truly is great". Laura enjoyed playing Bingo with her best friend and love of her life, Darrell. She enjoyed getting out on the weekends and going to yard sales. She loved finding rare and nice items or looking for something for someone else. 

She was a people person and loved to meet new people. She enjoyed sitting on the porch, drinking coffee, talking with her family members, or calling them on the phone. Laura was especially close to her daughter-in-law Kristen Grimmett. Kristen walked every step with Joann through the years of sickness. Joann loved Kristen so much. Happiness to Joann was seeing her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren happy. Her family was her world. 

Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Georgia Adkins; her beautiful granddaughter, Joella McNeely; her sisters, Eunice (Donald) Bragg, Lois (Raymond) Hatfield, Francis (Vince) Vincent, and Jean (Slimfats) Williams; Brothers, Buford (Brenda Adkins and Herbert (Vetaline) Adkins. 

Those left to cherish her memories are her companion of 23 years and the love of her life, Darrell Lockhart; her children, Travis (Kristen) Grimmett and Pamela McNeely; her grandchildren, Lauren Grimmett, TJ Grimmett, Jayden Evans, Treven McNeely, Kelton McNeely, Jaylend Gillispie and Abbygail McNeely; her great-grandchildren, Kella McNeely and Sadie Lynn Fields; her sister, Zola Conner along with many family and friends.

In accordance with her wishes she will be cremated with no formal services at this time.
