Lacy Lee Brooks

May 10, 1947 — September 18, 2018

Lacy Lee Brooks, Bluefield, WV, went to be with the Lord on September 18, 2018. He was born May 10, 1947 to Lacy H. and Ila Louise Cook Brooks. A 1965 graduate of Glen Rogers High School, he gave up playing basketball in high school in order to sing in a quartet. Having accepted Christ as his Savior at a very young age, his greatest joy was to spread the Good News in song and word. He preached his first sermon in 1966 and attended Tennessee Temple Bible College 1967-68. He was employed by N&W Railroad. He attended Allegheny Community College in Pittsburgh, PA and earned a degree in Elementary Education from Bluefield State College in 1974. He taught music at Welch and Anawalt Elementary School. He served as music minister at Kegley Baptist Church, Kegley, and Burke Baptist Church, Keystone. He left teaching to pastor Glen Fork Baptist Temple 1976-1980. He left pastoring to become a full time evangelist and traveled into many churches preaching revivals and singing. His radio broadcast, Decision for Eternity, was heard twice daily, 1980-1989. He directed the Mountaineer Baptist camp Meeting and Appalachian Baptist Camp Meeting for many years.
In 2003, he was called as Pastor of Memorial Baptist Church in Bluefield, VA. He served as Pastor from 2003 until his retirement in 2014. Lacy was also one of the founding members of the gospel quartet, Christ Incorporated, which later became Calvary’s Call Quartet. The quartet has traveled to many states, doing revivals and various venues to bring the gospel message in song and word. During his time at Memorial Baptist Church, and continuing until his illness, Lacy also provided ministry for the nursing home residents at Westwood Center. After his retirement, in addition to continuing to minister in song, Lacy has assisted Rev. Larry Dyer with a Senior/Shut-In Ministry at Fairview Christian Community Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his half-sisters, Myrtle Pettry, Opal Sizemore, and Wilda Bays.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 19 years, Deborah Morgan Brooks, his precious Cavalier King Charles Spaniel “Prince”, his mother in law, Mary Lou Morgan, and brothers in law, Gary, Ronnie, David, Michael Morgan and their families, his cousin, Linda Stewart, niece, Sue Marie Stump, and a host of other extended family members, including special friends, Suzanna Hanham and her husband Richard.
Lacy and Debbie would like to thank their personal physician, Dr. Ayne Amjad, and her staff (Ashley, Courtney, Alexa) for all of their love and support during this most difficult time. Not only have they attended to the medical needs, they have been a friend and family as well.
Funerals services will be conducted on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 1:00 at the Fairview Christian Community Church, 120 Black Oak Road, Princeton, WV, Princeton with Rev. Larry Dyer officiating.
