Kevin Matthew Carver was taken from this world too soon April 16, 2022, at the age of 26. Born August 3, 1995, he was the son of Christy and Mark Oliver of Bluefield.
Kevin was a family man to his core. He cared deeply for his family and shared a very special bond with his twin sister, Kelsey Lawson. His grandparents, Deborah and William Carver, were two people he spoke highly of and cherished his childhood that was spent with both. Kevin married his love of close to a decade, Emily Carver, and they welcomed their first child, a beautiful baby girl, Caroline Carver, in 2020. He was an excellent father with plans of having a large family. He and his wife were expecting their second child, a baby boy, due May 2022. It was his mission to take care of his is wife and their children.
Kevin had many academic achievements. After graduating from Bluefield High School (2013), Kevin attended MCTEC vocational school, graduating from the electrical program (2017) with a journeyman’s electrical license. Still eager to continue his education and provide for his family, Kevin continued and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Bluefield State College (2021).
During his time in school, Kevin made numerous friends along the way that made him happy and meant the world to him. Dustin Blankenship was a friend since youth that Kevin viewed as a lifelong brother. Corey Laws and Kevin formed a bond through their electrical work and became very close in their time together. Kevin’s hobbies included fishing with anyone who would go, working out with his best friend Kenneth Hawkins and gaming with his wife, Emily, and brother-in-law, Walker. Other special friends include Vince Martin, Tyler Lane, and Daquan Lewis, as well as his cat, Dennis “Big D” Carver.
Kevin is preceded in death by his grandfather, William Carver. He is survived by his wife, Emily Carver, and two children, Caroline Carver and soon to be Kevin Matthew Carver Jr., his twin sister, Kelsey and husband Walker Lawson, brothers-in-law Sam Dobson, Charlie Dobson, Josh Lawson, and Billy Mullins. His mother and father, Christy and Mark Oliver along with Grandmother Deborah Carver and Timmy Greene. Other family include, Kevin Call and family, David and Shelby Oliver, Danny and Charlotte Oliver, and Edward Carver and family.
Visitation for family will begin Thursday at 5:00 and friends from 6:00-8:00 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell.
