Kerry "Stubby" Dwayne Johnson

Kerry Dwayne “Stubby” Johnson, 51, of Burke Mountain, West Virginia passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2019 at his residence.

Kerry was born on November 25, 1967 in Welch, West Virginia to the late Merrill “Jack” and Margaret “Sissy” Church Johnson. Kerry attended the Freewill Baptist Church and had been a lifelong resident of Burke Mountain. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman, hunter and enjoyed hunting for ginseng. Kerry also loved hanging around with his nieces and nephews and cutting up.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister Barbara “Cookie” Meadows.

Kerry is survived by his siblings four brothers; Butch Johnson and wife Judy of Burke Mountain, West Virginia, Michael Johnson of Burke Mountain, West Virginia, Rodney Johnson and wife Kim of Burke Mountain, West Virginia and Keith Johnson and wife Becky of Maitland, West Virginia; five sisters, Connie Monk of Lebanon, Virginia, Linda Mitchem of Kegley, West Virginia, Sharon Jones and husband Darrell of Maitland, West Virginia, Lori Johnson of Honaker, Virginia and Rhonda Matney of Burke Mountain, West Virginia. Kerry is also survived by a good friend Donnie Burnett of Burke Mountain, West Virginia as well as a host of loved nieces and nephews.  

Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 21, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluefield (Bluewell), West Virginia with Pastor Ralph Steele officiating the service. Burial will follow at the Belcher Cemetery on Burke Mountain, West Virginia where friends and family will be serving as pallbearers.

The Johnson family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, June 21, 2019 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at the funeral home.
