On Saturday, September 3, 2022, Kenneth Edward Steele, 71, of Lakeland Drive, Bluefield, WV, traded his Gold wings for his Heavenly wings.
Kenny was born on February 22, 1951 to the late Rev. Estil and Mable West Steele of Iaeger, WV. He lived in Iaeger most of his life and then moved to Princeton to live with his sister, Dorothy Lockhart. Kenneth was a graduate of the Iaeger High School class of 1969. In his younger years, he worked at Sammy's Mobile with Sammy, Danny, Timmy and Robbie where he made lifelong friendships. He worked for both Joe Turley and Roland Bailey mining for several years. He loved going to horse shows and Harley Davidson motorcycles. Kenny attended Montcalm Church of God and Coaldale Freewill Baptist Church.
Kenneth is survived by two sisters, Ruby Lawson and Dorothy Lockhart. He was an uncle to Christ Brant, Freddie Lawson, Sherri Gaither, Kevin Bailey. A special nephew that Kenny loved so much and kept the coffee coming to Harley Bailey. He was also an uncle to Tom (Linda) Lockhart, Bob (Rosemary) Lockhart, Delores Pendleton and Pam (Jeff) Smith. He had cousins he loved dearly. Kenny met a special friend, Tom Farmer, aka "Cumberland Road Kid" and really enjoyed being with him at the Maples. He had a special friend, Myrtle King who helped so much and we thank you so much.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Bishop Malcolm Riggins, Rev. Tim Lacy and Rev. Ryan Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where his best friends, Bobby Perry, Johnny Sneed, Jerry Isom, Ronnie Watkins, Kevin Bailey, Freddie Lawson, and Keith Workman will serve as pallbearers. Johnny Steele, Raymond Kennedy, Lonnie Pennington, Gene Pennington will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
