Kenneth Wayne Powers

Kenneth Wayne Powers, 64, of Collinsville, Illinois passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at his residence.                 Kenneth was born on June 23, 1952 in Warrior Mines, West Virginia to Nellie Powers. He was a 1970 graduate of Big Creek High School. After high school Kenneth served his county in the United States Air force. Kenneth was employed as a heavy equipment operator and crane operator he was also a skilled welder. He was preceded in death by his uncle Norman Dent Powers and a nephew Johnny Lee Powers II.                   Left to cherish his memory is his mother Nellie Powers of Warrior Mines, West Virginia; two daughters Jessica Robinson of Collinsville, Illinois and Amanda Malter of Collinsville, Illinois. One brother Johnny Powers of Berwind, West Virginia and two nieces Sylvia Fernett of Fayetteville, West Virginia and DeShara Christian of Amonate, Virginia. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.                 Graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 10:30 am at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Bluewell, WV with Rev. Robbie Gaines officiating the service. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will follow the graveside services.                  The Powers family will receive friends and relatives on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluefield (Bluewell), West Virginia.                 Online condolences will be accepted at www.cravens-shires.com
