Kelly B. Gresby, age 92 of Bluefield, WV transitioned Wednesday September 15, 2021 at the Princeton Community Hospital in Princeton, WV. He was born July 17, 1929 in Harlan, Kentucky. He is the son of the late Kelly B. Gresby, Sr. and Loretta Malone Taylor-Gresby.
He received his early schooling at Byrd Prillerman School in the Raleigh County School System. He was retired from Norfolk & Southern after 42 years. He was a Veteran where he served in the Korean War. He was a member of Veteran of Foreign Wars. He served as the Post Commander for nine years in Iaeger WV. He gave his life to Christ under the pastorate of Reverend Larry Hairston and was a member of Beulah Baptist Church, Big Sandy, WV. He was an avid fisherman, he loved boating and fishing. He loved working with his hands, gardening, working on machines in his shop. Kelly B. loved people he knew no strangers. He was a people person.
He was proceeded in death by his parents and one son, Donnie Wayne Gresby. Kelly B. is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Elizabeth Gresby, of the home in Bluefield, WV, one son, Cedrick Gresby of South Point, Ohio, three daughters: Justina (Adolphus, Jr) Young of Roanoke, Virginia, Vanessa Greenwood, Welch, West Virginia and Monica Cooper of North Carolina; two brothers: Alphonso (Ella) Taylor of Flint, Michigan; Sylvester Gresby of Pennsylvania; two sisters: Loretta Bekeno of Bluefield, WV and Ruth McGee of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. He has five grand-children, A, Addison Young III., Kelli Cooper, Anthony Cooper, Sade’ Cooper & Alaya Jade Gresby &two great-grand daughters, Jailyn & Gabriele Mims, one sister-in-law; Mamie Stiff, Farmville, Va., Two Brother-in-laws; Floyd Bland and Winfield Bland and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. A. Addison Young, III and Rev. George Masterson officiating.
Friends may call on Friday from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Graveside services will be conducted on Monday, September 27, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard.
