Johnny Keith Prevento

Johnny Keith Prevento,75, of Princeton, WV, passed away on May 10, 2023 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family after a long courageous battle with cancer. Johnny was born on June 5,1947 in Asco, WV to the late Melvin Prevento Sr. and the late Thelma Jackson Prevento. He was a graduate of Southern Connecticut University and obtained his Master's Degree in Education at Marshall University. He was employed by the McDowell County Board of Education for 30 years until he retired in 2006. He served his country in the United States Air Force and served in the Vietnam War. Johnny loved playing music and several different instruments through the years, with his favorite being the guitar. He was a member of several bands throughout the years including the Fancy Free Band with whom he made lifelong friends. In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Joy Delegrande and Ralene Winders and one brother Melvin Prevento Jr. Survivors include his Loving Wife of 43 Years, Barbara "Bobbie" Prevento. One daughter Angie Graham and Husband Ronald of Carswell, WV. One granddaughter, who held his heart Meagan Burks and Husband Jeremy of Carswell, WV. One Great-Grandson, who was the light of his life, Bentlee Burks. Great Granddaughter on the way Brynleigh Burks. A special brother-in-law Lewis "June" Lambert. One Brother Mitchell "Dink" Prevento of Jacksonville ,Florida. And Two Sisters Patricia "Tridy" Bunting of Tazewell, Va. and Glenna Hale also of Tazewell Va. He also had a host of Nieces and Nephews that he held dear to his heart. He had a couple of near and dear friends he thought the world of, Keith Hall of Asco, WV and Randall Dority of Welch, WV. We would like to thank Compassus Hospice for taking such good care of him, special thank you to two of his wonderful nurses Heather Estep for always going the extra mile and TJ Necessary. It was his wishes to be cremated and memorial services will be scheduled at a later date.
