John T. Taylor

                John T. Taylor, 94, of Bailey Hollow Road Princeton, West Virginia passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Princeton Community Hospital in Princeton, West Virginia.                 John was born on March 27, 1924 in Montcalm, West Virginia to the late Leonard Lee Taylor and Violet Josephine Rose Taylor. He was a retired coal miner and former owner of The Shell Station on Athens Road. John proudly served his county in the United States Army during his time in the Army he was awarded two purple hearts; Silver Star; five bronze stars; Good Conduct Metal and French Fortiche metal. John was also the Past State President Purple Heart; Past Commander of the VFW, Mercer County Veterans Counsel, Member of the American Legion and DAV and was Chaplain for the Military funerals. John, was also a member of the Church of God.                 In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by the mother of his children and ex-wife, Louise Smothers Taylor; children, Eugene, Glenn, and Phyllis; sixteen brothers and sisters.                 Left to cherish his memory are his son James Taylor of Princeton, West Virginia and friend and Special Caregiver Pauline Taylor of Princeton, West Virginia. One sister Ilene Daisy Taylor of London, Kentucky. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.                   Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluefield, West Virginia with Pastor Ronnie Booher officiating the service. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, West Virginia where Ricky Scott, Marty Morgan, Curtis Taylor, Junior Shrewsbury, Mark Clemons and Zack Taylor. Honorary pallbearer will be Paul Alford.                 Friends may call on Thursday from 1:00-2:00PM at the funeral home.   Online condolences will be accepted at www.cravens-shires.com.
