John Priestly Rose, Jr., 83, of Tank Hollow Road Bluefield, West Virginia passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at his residence. John was born on December 27, 1933 in St. Charles, Virginia to the late John P. Rose, Jr. and Eva Whitt Rose. He had been a resident of Mercer County since 2001. He attended Southview Church and served his country in the United States Army. John was a retired mechanic. In addition to John’s parents he was preceded in death by his wife Loretta Ann Phillips Rose in 2008. Brothers V.D. Rose, Victor H. Rose and Odel Rose. Sisters Regina Rose and Velma Harman Left to cherish his memory is his three sons Perry D. Rose and wife Vickie of Bluefield, Virginia; John P. Rose III and wife Debra of Evington, Virginia and Everett J. Rose and wife Teresa of Welch, West Virginia. Two brothers Elmer J. Rose of Jasper, Georgia and Ronnie B. Rose of Abingdon, Virginia. One sister Emily Laqatta Smith of Ridgeway, Virginia. John is also survived by his grandsons Anthony E. Rose, Ryan M. Gordon and wife Lisa, Ryan J. Brewster and Travis D. Rose and wife Murphy. Granddaughters Michelle N. Garland and husband Bryan, Dana M. Willis and husband Jamie and Brittany Rose. Great-Grandchildren: Isaiah Rose, Elijah Garland, Natalee Garland, Carlen J. Gordon, John Michael Gordon, Jerry C. Gordon, Sophia Gordon, Julieonna Wolford, Peyton Wolford, Kalea Belcher, Myla Dick, Braxton Brewster, Kimberly Hagy and Brantley Rose; and also a lifelong friend and companion, Patricia Hawks. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluefield, West Virginia with Rev. Jerry Novell officiating the service. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, West Virginia where military graveside rites will be conducted by the WV Honor Guard. Ryan Gordon, Ryan Brewster, Anthony Rose, Bryan Garland, Janie Willis and Travis Rose will be serving as pallbearers.
