Joann Cowan

Joann Cowan, 83, of Bluefield, WV, formerly of Ashland, WV, passed away Monday, January 28, 2019 at Loving Hands Adult Care. She was born August 26, 1935, the daughter of the late Louis and Angela Corso Grasiotto. Joann was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bluefield, WV and belonged to the Sons of Italy, Red Hat Society and Saint Ann Ladies Society of the church. Joann was a United States postal worker for twenty-nine years.
In addition to her parents, Joann was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald L. Cowan; Son, Ronald L. Cowan, Jr.; Grandsons, Matthew Conner, Robert “Bobby” Cowan, and Jeremy Cowan; and brother, John Grasiotto.
Left to cherish Joann’s memory are two daughters, Deborah (Randy) Beggs, of Bluefield, WV, Cathy (Harry) Conner of Bluefield, VA, daughter-in-law, Kathy Cowan of Princeton, WV; aunt, Pauline Corso of Roanoke, VA; sister-in-law, Opal Grasiotto of Princeton, WV; niece, Tina Burks of Moresville, NC; three grandchildren, Sarah (Jon) Wilson, Allison (Jason) Patrick, and Joshua Conner; five great-grandchildren, Sadie, Harper and Anna Wilson, Mattoxx Cowan, and Gage Patrick.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Deacon Don Hammond officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV where family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Parkinson’s Association or the American Heart Association.
