Jessie Browning

Jessie Browning, 75, of Lerona, WV, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at WVU Medicine: Princeton Community Hospital after a long illness. He was born on July 15, 1948, in McDowell County, WV, and was the son of the late William and Belle Kerns Browning. Jessie was a member of the North Narrows Tabernacle Church and the United Mine Workers of America. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially horse riding and hunting.

 In addition to his parents, Jessie was preceded in death by six sisters: Betty Jean Steele, Ruby Adkins, Grace Keene, Hazel McBride, Ella Mae Sexton, and Deborah Browning; and four brothers: Frank, Johnny, Mack, and Elsworth Browning.

 Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Brenda Kay Browning; one son, Dr. Shawn Allen, and his wife, Jamie; one grandson, who was also his best buddy, John Daniel Allen, all of Lerona, WV; two sisters, Mary Estep of Panther, WV, and Wanda Steele of Mohawk, WV; and one brother, Jimmy Browning and his wife, Mary, of War, WV.

 In honoring Jessie’s wishes, no funeral services will be held. Burial will take place in a private service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Bluewell, WV, with Pastor Paul Terry officiating.

 Jessie’s family sends their thanks to the nurses, doctors, aides, and all staff of the CCU at Princeton Community Hospital for taking such great care of him during his last days.
