Janet Faye Gibson, 87, of Salem, Virginia, formerly of Duhring, West Virginia, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Friendship Health and Rehab Center in Roanoke, Virginia.
Janet was born on Thursday, October 15, 1931 in Mercer County, West Virginia to the late Rupert and Mattie Whittaker. Janet had been a resident of Christiansburg, Virginia since 1994, she was a graduate of Bramwell High School and retired from General Motors as a factory worker.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Vincent Craig Gibson and wife Cathy of Salem, Virginia and Anthony Raymond Gibson and wife Kara of Pennsville, New Jersey; one daughter Teresa L. Hess and husband Robert, Sr., of Wirtz, Virginia and one brother Rupert Whittaker, Jr. of Princeton, West Virginia. She is also survived by two grandchildren Riannon Gibson and Colin Gibson.
Cryptside rites will be held on Friday, May 31, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Bluefield (Bluewell), West Virginia with Minister Rick Mathena officiating the service. Entombment will follow the service where her friends and family will be serving as pallbearers.
The Gibson family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, May 31, 2019 from 11:00am until 11:45am at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluefield (Bluewell), West Virginia.
