James Russell Taylor, 82, of Bluefield, West Virginia passed away on Tuesday, July 09, 2019 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
James was born on August 26, 1936 in Bluefield, West Virginia to the late George Washington Taylor and Virgie Lee Taylor. He had been a resident of Bluefield for the past twenty years and was a former Janitor and Carpenter. James served his county proudly in the United States Army.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Shirley Gaynell Howlett Taylor; five brothers and four sisters.
Left to cherish his memory are his four sons Phillip Taylor and wife Dora of Lexington, North Carolina, Paul Allen Taylor of Norfolk, Virginia, Patrick Taylor of Creedmoor, North Carolina and Presley Taylor of Bluefield, West Virginia. Two daughters, Phyllis Catron of Bluefield, West Virginia and Patricia Taylor of Athens, West Virginia; three sisters, Virginia Shinault of Bluefield, West Virginia, Becky Thomas of Suffolk, Virginia and Anita Howard of Massachusetts. He is also survived by ten grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 12, 2019 at 3:00 pm at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluefield, West Virginia with Rev. David Blankenship officiating the service.
The Taylor family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, July 12, 2019 from 2:00pm until 3:00pm at the funeral home.
