James Loomis McDowell

James Loomis McDowell, 82, of McComas, WV, passed Friday, October 11, 2024, at WVU Medicine BRMC. 

James was born May 28, 1942, in Baltimore, Maryland. He worked over 20 years as a steel worker at Bethlehem Steel at the Sparrows Point Plant in Maryland. He later moved to Mercer County and retired from the Mercer County Board of Education. James was also a United States Veteran, serving in the US Navy. He was a member of the Crane Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church. 

James was preceded in death by his wife, Lola Marie McDowell, brother, Kenny McDowell, and sister, Janet McDowell. 

Those left to cherish James' memory are his stepson Robert "Bobby" Walston 1990 graduate of Montcalm High School, of Baltimore, MD; step grandson Nicholas James Walston, of Baltimore, MD; and nephew John Phillips of Eugene, OR, and niece, Deborah Jenkins of Delta, PA.  

In keeping with James' wishes, he is to be cremated, and no services are to be held.
