James Lowell Martin, Sr., 84, of Bluefield, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at the age of 84.
“Jim” as he was known by his friends, was born March 21, 1934 in Thornhill, WV, to the late Charles Moyer Martin, Sr. and Nina May Landreth Martin. He was a graduate of Bramwell High School and held a business degree from National Business College in Roanoke, VA. Jim and his son, Jim, Jr. are the co-owners of Moyer Martin Furniture Store in Bluewell. The business was established in 1918 by Jim’s father, Moyer Martin. Jim moved his family to Bluefield 55 years ago and has enjoyed his life, while serving his community in business. Jim was a longtime member of the Brushfork United Methodist Church. He will be most remembered by his family for the values, virtues and life lessons he has shared. He was a wonderful, nurturing father and friend to his family. His friends will remember him as a strong, dedicated and giving individual. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years; Glenna Vest Martin; and five siblings, Kay Hunt, Alvah Martin, Henley Martin, Cecil Martin, and Charles M. Martin, Jr.

Kevin W. Martin and wife Angela (Mullins) of Princeton
7 grandchildren: KaCee Martin, Holly Lastinger, Kara Dinterman, Andrew Galbraith
Matthew Martin, Keith Martin, Jr., Logan Baker
5 great grandchildren
Sister: Freda Aliff and husband Bill
A host of nieces and nephews
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Melissa White officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Friends may call on Saturday from 6-8PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, or to the church of your choice.
