James Edward Justus

James Edward Justus, 70, of Dawson School Road, Bluefield, WV, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2019 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA.

Born on October 22, 1948 in Welch, he was a son of the late Beckley and Leola Marie Mowdy Justus. He had been a resident of Bluefield for 34 years and attended the Church of God. He attended Bluefield State College and West Virginia University, where he also played football for the Mountaineers. He was a farmer and retired coal miner with 37 years of service and was a member of the UMWA.

Survivors include his son, James Edward Justus, II and wife Cristy Leigh of Princeton; daughter, Rachel Lynn Justus of Bluefield; grandchildren, Corbin Dean Justus, Colby Jayce Justus, Justice Openshaw, and Camren Athey; sisters, Patricia Deel and husband Clancey of Richlands, VA, and Rebecca Justus Gibson of Vinton, VA; and special family friends, Christina Rose of Elkhorn, and Todd Petrunger of Princeton, WV.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, July 19, 2019 at 1:00PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Larry Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call on Friday, prior to services, from 11:00-1:00 at the funeral home.
