James "Jim" Michael Sowers

Bluefield- James “Jim” Michael Sowers, 57, of Lorton Lick Rd., Bluefield, WV passed away Sunday November 4, 2018 at the Glenwood Park Retirement Village.
Born March 9, 1961 in Mercer County, he was a son of the late Frank R. and Lotus Boley Sowers. He was a member of the Montcalm Church of God, graduate of Bramwell High School, was employed by Asplundh Tree Service and a lifelong resident of Mercer County. Jim was avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He will be sadly missed by the community and his family.
Mr. Sowers is survived by his wife Rita Pennington Sowers of the home; a step-son; Austin Lively of the home; daughter; Sydney Sowers and companion Jeremy of Athens, WV; brother; Frank R. Sowers, Jr. and wife Anita of Harrisburg, PA, a sister; Kathy Perry and husband Clayton of St. Petersburg, FL, Father and mother in law, Lonnie and Loretta Pennington of Rock, WV, two grandchildren, two nieces, and two nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday November 9, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mac Riggins officiating. Burial will follow at the Woodlawn Memorial Park located in Bluewell, WV with David Nelson, Justin Livley, Don Perkins, Jimmy Perkins, Bradley Nelson and Kris Myers serving as pallbearers. .
