James Randall David

James “Randall” David, 80, of China Grove, NC passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at his home. Born August 18, 1941 in Black Wolf, WV, he was the son of the late Hoston David and Martha Morgan David of Thorpe, WV. Randall was a retired coal miner with U.S. Steel in Gary, WV with 23 years of service and was an instructor for McDowell County Vocational School for 15 years. He was a member of the UMWA and the Thorpe United Methodist Church. Randall was a man that was deeply loved by his family. He was a compassionate and caring person who was always willing to help a person in need.

Those left to cherish Randall’s memory are his wife, Sherry White David of the home; son, Randall David and wife, Becky of Concord, NC; daughters, Terri Cepelnik and husband, Martin of Concord, NC, and Tena Rose and husband, Anthony of Bluefield, WV; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Monday, April 4, 2022 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Rev. Ronald Felts officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the time of service. Graveside service will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at Woodlawn Memorial Park where family will be serving as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend the graveside services are asked to meet at the cemetery. Cravens-Shires Funeral Home is serving the David family.
