James Chester Clowers

James Chester Clowers, 84, of Princeton, WV, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2023.

Born on November 21, 1938 in Crystal, he was a son of the late Richard Cecil and Rosie Bell Dunford Clower. He was a veteran of the US Army and was a retired coal miner and truck driver. 

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Judy Clower, Wanda Bond, Jerry Clower, Basil Clower, Jackie Clower, Joseph Harold Clower, Anthony Clower, and Verlin Clower.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Bailey Clower; son, James “Frankie” (Lena) Clower of Martinsville, VA; daughters, Elizabeth Bowles of Princeton, Sherri (Tommy) White of Bassett, VA, and Marie (David) Stout; 4 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren; sisters, Carol Bailey, Reeda Clower, Hazel Clower, Sandra Dedman, and Patricia Morrow. 

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at 2:00PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Mike Gibson, Rev. Doug Sluss and Rev. Tony Whitlow officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Elgood where military honors will be performed by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard. 

Friends may call an hour prior to services, from 1:00-2:00 PM, at the funeral home.
