Rev. James Black, 75, of Bluefield WV, went peacefully to his Heavenly Home on Sunday Evening April 26, 2020 at Princeton Community Hospital.
James was born in Montcalm, WV on July 19,1944. He was the son of the late Walton E. Black and Mary Conlee Black of Bluefield, WV He was a Veteran serving with the US Navy 1963-1967. During the latter part of his military time he served as a fill-in Chaplin. James was ordained as a Minister in the International Pentecostal Holiness Church where he served as Pastor for 39 years. Churches he was pastor of include: Coalwood WV, Bristol VA, Rolfe WV, Bakers Chapel in VA, White Sulphur Springs WV, Kingsport TN, and St. Paul in VA where he retired. He then returned to Bluefield WV along with his wife of 52 years, Connie Graham Black, where they continued in the ministry as evangelists. He enjoyed family gatherings, hunting and fishing with family, and watching westerns. His favorite pass time was reading and studying God's word.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Connie Graham Black of Bluefield WV; daughter, Princess Fogus and husband Marty of White Sulphur Springs, WV; sons, Eddie Black and wife Beth of Ronceverte, WV, and Marty Black of Kingsport, TN; six grandchildren, Chelsea, Gage, Lacy, Alex, Seth and Lindsey; sisters, Wilma Hampton and Cheryl and Dave Compton; brother Larry Black all of Bluefield, WV; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A day of CELEBRATION of his life will be on May 16th, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Voice of Praise IPHC in Bluewell, WV Bishop Preston Mathena officiating. Military honors will be performed by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard.
