Howard Perkins

Howard R. Perkins, Jr., 74, of (Bluewell), Bluefield, WV, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2020 at his home.

Born on July 23, 1946 in McComas, he was a son of the late Roscoe Howard Perkins, Sr. and Mary Brady Perkins. He had been a lifelong resident of Bluewell and was member of the Pine Grove Church of Christ since 1973. He was a veteran of the US Army and was a member of the Princeton Elks. He was a retired coal miner with 35 years of service. He was an avid golfer and was a big fan of WVU Football and the Bluefield Beavers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Jaynette Gibson and Deana Ireson. 

Survivors include his loving wife, Betty M. Perkins of the home; son, Timothy E. Perkins of Smithfield, VA; granddaughter, Emilee (Glenn) Boyer of Zuni, VA; and Julie Perkins of Smithfield, VA.

Also surviving are a son, Keith (Audra) Perkins of Greenbrier, TN; grandson, Brandon Perkins of Princeton, WV; granddaughters, Kaitlyn Holston of Christiansburg, VA, and Linda Perkins of Greenbrier, TN; great-grandchildren, Brayden and Addison; Daughter, Kimberly (Darryl) Worley of Savannah, TN and Granddaughter, Savannah Worley; and sister Judy (Gene) Bailey of Bluefield, VA.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Minister Gary Lamie officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where Keith Hodges, Glenn Boyer, Frankie Brady, Mike Gibson, Bill Brady and Jimmy Belcher will serve as pallbearers. Reginald “Regi” Miller, Mike Blankenship, Richard Spaulding and Larry Brady will serve as honorary pallbearers.  Military honors will be performed by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard.

Friends may call prior to services, from 12:00-1:00 PM at the funeral home.

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic and state mandate, the family request that all in attendance to wear masks and adhere to social distancing guidelines.
