Howard (Jack) Curtis Perdue, 95, of Cimarron Drive, Princeton, WV, went peacefully to his Heavenly home on Sunday morning, April 26, 2020, passing at home where he wanted to be.
Born in Bluefield, WV on March 20, 1925 he was the son of the late Giles S. and Sally Caldwell Perdue. He had been a resident of Princeton for 62 years moving from Perdue Hollow in 1958. He last attended Fairview Christian Community Church. Howard was a World War II veteran serving with the US Navy in Cuba. He was a retired conductor with N&S Railroad. He loved to farm and was very active as long as his health was good. He loved to garden, fish and hunt., He was a master wood worker where he made most of the furniture in his home… and the homes of many others.
He was preceded in death by he “love of his life”, his wife of 66 years, Thelma Dean Perdue; a brother, Tommy Perdue; three sisters, Ruby Stinson, Thelma Huffman, and Frances Bond.
Survivors include his sons, Giles Kelly Perdue and his love Janet A. Malmstrom; and Joe Curtis Perdue, both from Princeton; daughter, Mary Gillespie and husband Ron of Lexington, NC; three grandchildren, four great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren; and a sister, sister, Shirley George of Bluefield.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 15, 2020 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Larry Dyer officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where military honors will be performed by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard.
Friends may call on Thursday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
