Howard Garland Hubbard, Sr.

Howard “Nubbin” Garland Hubbard Sr., 86, of Smithers, WV, and formerly of Browning Lambert Mountain, Montcalm, passed Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Montgomery Nursing and Rehab Center in Montgomery, WV.

Born September 7, 1937, in Bluefield, WV, he was a son of the late William Howard and Virginia Helmandollar Hubbard. Howard was a retired welder. He was a lifelong resident of Mercer County, and a member of the Montcalm Church of God.

In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Katie Ruth “Pat” Hubbard, and son Howard Garland Hubbard, Jr.

Those left to cherish Howard’s memory are his sons, Joseph Hubbard and wife Donna of Smithers, WV, and Gregory Hubbard and wife Pam of Ponchatoula, LA; daughter, Lisa Anderson and husband Mike of Winston-Salem, NC; brother, John Hubbard and wife Cecilia of Bluewell, WV; 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell, WV, at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Joseph Hubbard officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV, with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
