Helen Poff Williams, 93, of Princeton, West Virginia formerly of Bluewell, West Virginia, daughter of the late, Herbert B. Poff and Carrie Anderson Poff passed away on Wednesday, December 04, 2019 at the residence of her daughter. Helen was born in Thorpe, West Virginia on Wednesday, August 04, 1926.
Helen was a graduate of Gary High School, class of 1945. She moved to Bluewell, West Virginia in 1951.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence “Punk” Williams in 1985; her baby twin sister, Ellen Poff and brother, Harless “Hambone” Poff.
Helen is survived by daughter, Sue Ellen Hatcher and husband Bill of Princeton, West Virginia with whom she made her home; two sons, David Williams and wife Kathy of Beaufort, South Carolina and Phillip Williams and wife Paula of Duluth, Georgia. Four grandchildren Stephanie Carr, Nicholas Kidd, Chris Williams and Matthew Williams. Six great grandchildren; three step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren. One special niece Linda Poff and several cousins.
Helen was a member of Bluewell United Methodist Church and was a member of the Loyalettes Sunday School class. She was also involved in Laura Wheeler Circle and the XYZ senior club. Helen was a charter member and past matron of the Bramwell Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star #158.
Funeral service for Helen will be held on Saturday, December 07, 2019 at 11:30 am at Bluewell United Methodist Church 228 Warden Ave. Bluefield (Bluewell), West Virginia with Rev. Melissa White officiating the service. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, West Virginia where Chris Williams, Matthew Williams, Jonathan Williams, Michael Williams, Scott Carr and Nick Kidd will be serving as pallbearers.
The Williams family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, December 06, 2019 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home 3431 Coal Heritage Road Bluefield, West Virginia. Order of Eastern Star #158 service honoring Helen at 7:00 pm. The family will also receive friends and relatives one hour prior to her service on Saturday at the Bluewell United Methodist Church.
