Helen Louise Johnson

Helen Louise Johnson, 96, of Skating Rink Hollow Road, Bluefield, WV, passed away peacefully Friday Morning, December 10, 2021 after declining health over the past year and is now being serenaded by angels.

Born on September 17, 1925, in Bluefield, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary Bowling Meade. She was a faithful member of the Lorton Lick Wesleyan Church (formerly Pilgrim Holiness Church) since 1950 and was a Sunday school teacher and treasurer for over 60 years. She was a Godly woman, loved the Lord, and was a prayer warrior for all. She was a bright lady with a sharp mind who loved working puzzles and telling her childhood stories to all.

She was preceded in death by her husband 15 years ago who was the love of her life, David Thomas Johnson; her twin sister, Hazel Warburton; sister Mae Brewster; and brothers, Homer, Earl and Eugene Meade.

Survivors include her children, Richard Stanley (Phyllis) Johnson of Bluefield, WV, Jerry Arthur Johnson from Beckley, WV, and Ronald Wayne (Tami) Johnson from Graham, NC; daughter, Linda Johnson (Ronnie T.) Saunders, of Trinity, NC; 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren; oldest sister, Thelma Buchanan Jones (97) of Wingate, NC, who is the last surviving member of this generation; and a host of nieces and nephews. She will be loved and missed by all.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Barry Wright and her son Ronald Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
