Gertrude Emma Smith, 82, of Falls Mills, VA, passed away June 01, 2018. Born in Matoaka, WV, she was the daughter of the late Jules and Fannie Pennington Stassin. She was a Homemaker and her special love was the two grandchildren she helped raise, Taylor Ruble and Tanner Pensula.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her, husband Roy Jackson Smith, three of her children; Arnold Smith, Roy Gary smith, and Lisa Ruble Pensula.
Those left to cherish her memories are a daughter; Karen and husband Charles Bowling, special nephews; Steve Stassin, Larry and Brenda Farthing, a Brother; Jules Stassin, a sister; Jennie Stevenson; and the grandchildren she adored; Shannon Bowling, Patty Young, Kim Smith, Noah and Haley Young Aeryonna Bowling, Hylan Bowling; Daughter-in-Law; Kathy Smith, and special thanks to Dr. Ladonna Bowling.
Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be conducted Monday June 4, 2018 at 7:00 P.M. by Evangelist Charles Bowling at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel. Friends may call from 6:00 P.M until 7:00 P.M. Monday June 4, 2018 at the Cravens Shires Funeral Home. Burial will take place at the Woodlawn Memorial Park located in Bluewell.
