Gerald Lee “Jerry” Carver, 76, of Crane Creek Road, Rock, WV, passed away on Monday, November 8, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. Born on August 12, 1945 to Freeman, he was the son of the late Lee Gentry and Margaret Ann Fitzko Carver. He had been a resident of Crane Creek for 54 years and was a veteran of the US Navy serving in Vietnam. He was an electrician in the Navy on the USS Constellation during the Battle of Tonkin at the beginning of the Vietnam war. He returned home to work at Rockwell for 17 years. He then worked rebuilding mining equipment for several years and working for local businesses. His favorite job was working at Montcalm High School for over 15 years. He loved the students, school and his community. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Susan Hall Carver of the home; 2 daughters, Susan “Beth” (Bill) Farrington of Rock, and Sarah Lee (Thomas “TJ”) Powell of Bluefield; 3 grandchildren, Ericca Margaret Farrington of Peachtree Corners, GA, Easton Thomas Lee Powell of Bluefield, and Caroline Elizabeth Powell of Bluefield; and a sister, Cynthia Ellen Bell of Nemours. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Minister Paul Delida officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where military honors will be performed by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard. Bill Farrington, TJ Powell, Ronnie Cook, Roy Powell, Donald Farrington and Demont Lewis will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call prior to services, from 1:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home.
