George Harrison, 96, of Bluefield, West Virginia passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at his residence.
George was born on July 03, 1923 in Freeman, West Virginia to the late Steve and Katherine Yonda Harrison. George had been a resident of Bluefield, West Virginia for the past seventy years and was a Charter Member of the First Baptist Church of Bluewell. George was a retired Coal Miner and member of the UMWA. He also served as the Bluewell Public Service District Commissioner for thirty years.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his three brothers, Steve, Frank and John Harrison and his one sister Annie Harrison Reid.
George is survived by his wife Mary Stella Harrison of the home; one daughter Carolyn Harrison Shumaker of Princeton, West Virginia. Two grandchildren, Tina Bailey Mitchell and Leah Ann Wimmer and husband Tim; four great grandchildren, Justin Burnette and wife Kat, Heather Key and husband Matthew, Brittany Williams and husband Tanner and T.J. Wimmer; two great great grandchildren Cayden and Zander Key.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at 2:00pm at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluefield (Bluewell), West Virginia with Rev. James Milam officiating the service. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluefield, West Virginia where Tim Wimmer, Mathew Key, Tanner Williams, Justin Burnette, T.J. Wimmer and Joshua Osborne will be serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers Cayden Key and Zander Key.
The Harrison family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, January 30, 2020 from 12:00pm until 2:00 pm at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home.
