George Washington Harmon

George W. Harmon, 84, of 448 Indian Grave Road, Anawalt, WV  24808, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2017 from injuries sustained in a four wheeler accident.   Born March 2, 1933 in Skygusty, WV.   He was the son of the late Thomas Harman and the late Nettie Mae Harman Winebarger.  He had been a resident of Leckie for 60 years. He served in the United States Army and was Korean Veteran.  He was an avid hunter and loved gardening.   In addition to his parents, he was preceded death by a sister, Marjorie Johnson and his best friend & brother Matthew Harman and brother William Harman, a half-brother, Clarence Winebarger, Jr. and grandson,  Daniel Hurt.   Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Aurelia Harmon and his children, James Harmon and wife, Candy of Vale, NC, Rocky Harman and wife,  Chrissy  of Maiden, NC, Tommy Harmon and wife, Debbie of Denver, NC,  Sherry Cleary of Galloway, OH, Darlene Hurt and husband, Rick of Pageton, WV and Kimberly Cox and husband, Rodney of Skygusty, WV   Grandchildren: Danielle Jones, Jason Cleary, Rodney Cox Jr, Francis Hurt, Kevin Cox, Nicholas Harmon, Brandon Cleary, Holly Cox, Ashley Cleary, Brittany Roupe, Michael Harmon,  Amanda Harman and Jay Harmon.   Great-Grandchildren: Gareth & Ash Nelson, Tiffany Cleary, Rodney lll, My'ana & Lorenzo Cox, Bryleigh Hurt & Brogan Hudson, Maddie & Katie Cleary, Blake Hancock, Michael Sturgell, MaKayla & Jayda Cleary, Skyler & Nevaeh Roupe and Jayse Harmon.   He also leaves behind his beloved sister, Louise Hopkins of Gary, WV; brother: Frank Harman, O'toole, WV, Sisters:  Shirley Woolridge, Skygusty, WV and Mary DeWeese, Bramwell, WV. His "other" son: Steve Valach, of Conklintown, WV; David "Red" Blevins of Anawalt, WV; and Dean Winebarger, Leckie,WV.   Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 1:00PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Jimmy Sanson officiating.
