Gail Sammons Witt, 58, of Bluefield, WV passed away at her home on Monday, May 6, 2019.
Born on March 25, 1961 in Bluefield, she was a daughter of the late Vernard William and Loraine Underwood Perdue. She was a beloved school teacher in Mercer County for 35 years with many Accolades. Graduating from Bluefield State, with a Master's from Mountain State. Gail held titles of Teacher of the Month as well as Teacher of the Year. She was beloved by students, parents, and colleagues. Gail will be remembered by her joyous personality and her kindness throughout her life. She would love to sing like no one could hear, and dance like no one was watching. Her warm and bright smile could make anyone feel at ease and happy around her. Gail was a true animal lover, her favorite dog being Sassy. She would travel with Sassy everywhere whether it would be a trip to the lake, or just for some ice cream. She would also want people to know that her greatest accomplishment would be her 3 sons. She was a momma bear for her 3 boys and was so very proud of each one.
She was proceeded in death by mother Loraine Underwood Perdue, father Vernard William Perdue, and David Sammons, father of Julian, Jarrod, and Jonathan Sammons.
She is survived by her 3 children, Julian, Jarrod, and Jonathon Sammons, and the love of her life husband Billy Witt, and her step sons Curtis and Robert Witt, and sister Karen Hendrick-MIiller.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Pastor David Kirby and Rev. Jim Milam officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The Witt family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, May 10, 2019 from 6-8PM at the funeral home.
