Fairley Lee Burks, Sr.

Fairley Lee Burks, 83, of Ararat, VA, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice House in Dobson, NC. 

Born on August 6, 1941 in Bigfour, he was a son of the late Willie Burks and Rindy Green Burks. He was a coalminer for 35 years and was a member of the Little Vine Baptist Church. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gracie Mae Burks, two daughters Tammy Marlene Underwood and Amy Michelle Catron; a son, Fairley Burks, Jr.; two brothers, Paul Burks and Willie Burks, Jr. 

Those left to cherish his memories are his son, Brian Keith (Johnna) Burks of Ararat, VA; grandsons, Johnathan (Rindy) Burks of Cape Elizabeth, ME, Ryan (Grace) Burks of Ararat, VA, and Justin (Ashley)  Underwood of Charleston, WV; granddaughters, Cindi (Wayne) Fox of Welch and Leeanna (Charles) Lane of Premier; great grandchildren, Aiden, Ethan, Gabriel, Tammy, Thomas, Heather, Haley, and baby Burks due May 2025; sister, Onie Lester of Keystone; several nieces and nephews that loved him dearly. 

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, December 27, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Little Vine Baptist Church in Superior with Elder Tom Belcher and Rev. Joseph Easter officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell.  

Friends may call prior to services on Friday, from 1:00-2:00 PM, at the church.
