Everett Frost, 75, of Bluefield, VA, peacefully went home to be with The Lord on March 16, 2023 while his family was by his side. Born on November 7, 1947, in Hensley, WV, he was a son of the late Harold and Ethel Lester Frost. Everett was a Sgt. in the US Army where he received his Parachutist Badge, and National Defense Service Medal and was a retired corrections officer from Bland Correctional Center. Everett was also the president of the XYZ group at Bluewell United Methodist Church and loved helping make apple butter every year at the church as well. Everett had a love for the youth in the community and enjoyed coaching, umpiring, and refereeing. He also loved playing corn hole and horseshoes, but anyone who knew Everett knew he really loved to fish. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Jackie Frost, Hubert Frost, Truman Frost, and Norman Frost; sisters, Gerrie Gutierrez and Faith “June” Parker; and father-in-law, O’Dell Bennett. Those left to cherish Everett’s memory are his wife, Evelyn Bennett Frost of the home; son, Brad Frost and wife Kristy of Bedford, VA; daughter, Emily Cook and husband Larry of Morgantown, WV; brother, Ernest Frost and wife Rita of Bluefield, WV; sisters, Darlene Newton and husband Michael of Fredericksburg, VA, Lorraine Clark of Bedford, VA, Irene Hylton of Princeton, WV, and Tammy Almond and husband Bill; brother-in-law, Richard Parker; sister-in-law, Doneva Frost of Princeton, WV;mother-in-law, Zelma Bennett; two grandchildren, Shaylee and Rowan; special aunt Carol Herald of Princeton, WV and a slew of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special friends who became family, Penny Fortner, Jaeretta and Cecil Morgan, Sheena and Fred Hunt, Roger Lawrence, Marty Lawrence, and the late Tom Lawrence. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at Bluewell United Methodist Church with Rev. Sheri Kernik and Rev. Larry Ramey officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA where Dave Burgess, Marty Lawrence, Ron Louthan, Aaron Pennington, Ernest Frost, Chuck Sesco, and T.J. Harman will serve as pallbearers. Donald “Rusty” Hylton, Charlie Farlow, and Grady Faulkner will serve as honorary pallbearers. Friends may call one hour prior to services from 1:00-2:00 PM. A visitation will be held on Monday, March 20, 2023, at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel from 6:00-8:00 PM. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to MSA Hospice for the wonderful care that was given, especially to Paula, Jeanie, Dreama, Paige, Courtney, Sam and Tim.
