Eva Joyce Catron

December 30, 1941 — May 23, 2023

Eva Joyce Farmer Catron, 81, of Abbs Valley, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.

Born on December 30, 1941, in Jenkin Jones, WV, to the late Blaine and America Nunley Farmer. Eva was the last surviving child and was preceded in death by her siblings, Louise, Pauline, Lacy, Hilda, Garland, and Willard.

Eva was a successful business woman, working tirelessly alongside her husband at their restaurant and grocery store in Pocahontas, VA. Eva was a fabulous cook and with the help of her husband, sons, and often grandchildren, Eva fed thousands of people in her catering business.

Eva had a true servant’s heart and graciously gave to her community, friends, and family. She enjoyed shopping, reading romance novels, baking pies and cakes, traveling on tour buses, watching games shows, and listening to southern gospel music. Her home was always open, and she often had way more people over for dinner than the table could accommodate. She loved her flowers and sitting on the front porch watching the cars drive by way too fast and chatting with her friends either in person or over the phone. Eva left a lasting legacy with her sons and grandchildren to possess a strong work ethic, to love and give freely to others, and to always wear clean shoes.

Left to cherish her memory is her devoted and faithful husband of 66 years, Jack W. Catron. Her pride and joy were their 3 sons: Jody (Sandra), Mark (Cathy), and Andy (Donna). Grandchildren: Melissa (James) Parton, Shannon Catron (Deborah Payne), Suzanne Catron (Chris Hinkle), Anthony (Jessica) Catron, Leanne (John) Walker and Britney Catron. Great grandchildren: Katelynn Parton, Tanner Parton, Isabella Parton, Easton Catron, Ricky Dunford, Reese Catron, and Luke Walker.

Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, WV will be in charge of the Family’s Private Service at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA with Jeremiah Holcomb, Pastor of Mapleview Church of Christ, will be officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be, Stephen Blevins, Joe Bourne, Frank Farmer, Robert Harman, Macky Thompson, and Adam Bourne.
