Ethel Lee Formica, 86, of Samet Drive, High Point, NC and formerly of Keystone, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 9, 2018 at the Whittaker Rehab Center in Winston-Salem, NC after a long illness. Born on October 14, 1931 in Keystone, she was a daughter of the late Basil and Virgie Rotenberry. She had lived most of her life in McDowell County and had graduated from Northfork High School. She was an active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Powhatan where she served as a Eucharistic minister, CCD teacher, President of the Ladies Guild and parish Council. She was also a lector and choir member. Ethel had a passion for reading. Ethel’s Christian filled spirit was contagious to all she met. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be dearly missed by all.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Formica, and three brothers, Joe, Mack and Jimmie Rotenberry. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with Randall Formica, Steven Lambert, Edward Walker, Kenny Grimsley, Johnathan Rotenberry, Jimmy Bedra, and Rick Oster serving as pallbearers.Friends may call on Friday from 6:00-8:00PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with a Christian Wake service at 7:30 conducted by Jimmy Coppola and Lori Bishop.
