Ernest Dwight Mullins, 76, of Statesville, North Carolina, formerly of Tazewell County, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, December 4, 2022, at S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Mooresville, NC, surrounded by his family. Born April 3, 1946, in Grundy, VA, he was the son of the late Elbert Luther and Myrtle Asbury Mullins. Upon graduation from Graham High School, he entered the United States Air Force where he served his country honorably for 25 years. Mr. Mullins was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His greatest past time was singing and playing music with his friends for many years. He attended Diamond Hill Baptist Church. Mr. Mullins was preceded in death by brothers Gene, Joe, and Sammy, and sisters, Shirley Rose, Irene, and Dawneda. He is survived by his wife, Vivian “Jean” White Tabor, of the home; son, Dwight “Alan” Mullins of Conway, SC; daughter, Monica Streicher and husband Jim of Conway, SC; stepson Keith Tabor of Falls Mills, VA; brother, Luther Mullins of Collierville, TN; 3 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Holleman officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens where family and friends will serve as pallbearers and military graveside rites will be conducted by the Mercer County Veteran’s Honor Guard.
