Ernest John "Butch" Hamro

July 24, 1945 — October 29, 2019

Ernest John “Butch” Hamro, 74, of Bluefield, WV passed away October 29, 2019 at his residence following a courageous battle with Cancer. Butch was born at home in Gary #6 (McDowell County) to the late John and Mary Hamro. He graduated from Gary High School in 1963. In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara These and a special niece Michele Williamson. Butch is survived by his wife of 30 years, Becky Cline Hamro, daughter April, son John and sisters Carmen Gergely and Mary Jane Williamson. Also, two grandsons, five granddaughters and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Most of his life was spent on the water fishing. If there was a hole of water big enough to put a boat and a fish in, he was there. Many of those trips were made with his “brother” Russell Nicewander. The last five years Butch spent with a new passion-music. Learning to play guitar, he also found that he loved to write songs. Butch loved life and lived it the best he knew how. His sense of humor, love of music and animals, and the idea that “God isn’t finished with me yet” sustained him these last few years. Numerous times I was told “I don’t want a funeral. I don’t want tears. I want music, smiles, laughter and love.” A memorial service celebrating Butch’s life will be held November 9, 2019 at 8PM at Sam’s Bar in Princeton (1327 Mercer Street). Remember also Tinkerbell the Little White Fluffy Dog and Pierre (Scootchie) the Little Gentleman as they miss their human.
