Ernest Charles Bowman, Sr.

Ernest Charles Bowman Sr., 76, of Falls Mills, VA passed away at Wake Forrest Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer on the 20th of December 2018.

Ernest was born in a log cabin in Berwind Lake, WV and graduated from Big Creek High School in 1960. As member of Falls Mills Christian Church, Ernest was a passionate believer in Christ and cherished the moments spent with his church family. He was a Board of Director, Deacon, and Sunday School Teacher. Ernest worked for Ingersoll Rand for nearly 20 years, then opened his own mining repair shop, Hal-Bow, and has operated it for the last 35 years. Throughout his life, Ernest was kind and compassionate always putting the needs of others before his own. He always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small.

He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator. Ernest was a devoted husband to his wife Sandra of 55 years. Ernest loved spending time with his family and enjoyed many vacations at the beach. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Allen Bowman and Ruby Bowman Hunter, Mother and Father in law, Lewis and Sally Patrick, brother and sister in laws: Bill and Taylor, JD and Vivian Atwell, and Earl Davidson. Ernest is survived by his wife, Sandra G Bowman; daughter Rebecca L. Bowman; son Ernest Charles Bowman Jr. and wife Amy Bowman; sister JoAnne and husband Donald Farmer; granddaughters Alex and Emily Bowman, brother and sister in law Lowell and Betty Patrick and Billie Sue Davidson along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The Bowman family is grateful for the many people who continually aided Ernest during his illness and offered prayers each step of the way. The family will receive friends from Noon to 1:00PM on Saturday, December 22 at Falls Mills Christian Church with the service to follow. Minister Frank Watkins will officiate. Burial will be held at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Pallbearers will be family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Christian Acres.
