Ennis Louise Proffitt, 78, of McArthur, WV, formerly of Bramwell, WV, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2023 at her home. Born February 25, 1944 in Rolfe, WV, she was a daughter of the late N.B. Mangus, Jr. and Mary Stone Mangus. Ennis was a 1961 graduate of Richlands High School, and a graduate of McLains Business School and Little French Beauty Academy. Ennis attended the Bramwell Presbyterian Church and Bluefield Church of God. She worked as a beautician and caregiver. Ennis never met a stranger. She expressed her love through cooking and caring for others. She will be truly missed by all who knew her. She loved being a youth leader for many years. Working with and around children was one of her greatest joys in life. To know Ennis was to love her. In addition to her parents, Ennis was preceded in death by her aunt, Louise Ferrell.
Those left to cherish Ennis’ memory are her sons, Micheal Lee Proffitt of Bluefield, VA, and Randall Lee Shultz of Oak Hill, WV; daughters, Meg Adkins of MacArthur, WV, Mary Rothwell of Kannapolis, NC, and Kathy White of Salisbury, NC; brothers, N.B. Mangus III of Bluefield, VA, and Craig Mangus of Bluefield, WV; sisters, Bunny Etter and Iva Shultz, both of Rockwell, NC; 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
In keeping with Ennis’ wishes she will be cremated. A celebration of life will be held from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at The Loft in Princeton, WV. All family and friends are invited to attend. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Alzheimer’s Association National Capital Area Chapter, 8180 Greensboro Drive, Suite 400, McLean, VA 22102.
