When I count my blessings, I count you twice
Bluefield, WV- Emma Peltz Lavin of Bluefield passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 11th at the young age of 101. Born on April 1, 1920 in Elkhorn, WV. She was the daughter of Joseph and Anna Peltz, she is also preceded in death by her dear husband Sam Lavin, Sr., her 4 brothers, Andrew, Mike, Pete, Nick and her sisters, Julia Holstein and Anna Lenosky.
Emma is survived by her daughter Linda Woods and husband Ed of Greensboro, NC. And Emma’s son, Sam Lavin Jr. and wife, Jane Baker of Charlotte, NC, and 2 Grandchildren Leahjane and Jeff Lavin and his wife Danielle and 3 great grandchildren, Cooper, Coco and Hudson. And sister Mary Coburn of Acworth, GA. And her loving nieces and nephews.
When Emma was not in the kitchen cooking, especially for family gatherings and church functions. You could always find her reading her bible; Her total devotion was to church and family.
Emma’s philosophy on life was if you only have one strawberry…share it.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 16 at 11:00 AM AM at St. Mary’s Orthodox Church located on route 460, Bluefield, WV with Father Michael Foster officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery located in Bluewell.
Friends may call one hour prior, from 10:00-11:00 AM at the church.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made in her remembrance to St. Mary’s Orthodox Church. 187 Justin Lane, Bluefield, WV 24701.
