Emma Jean Boone, age 81, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2020 at her home in Pocahontas, VA. Born on January 19, 1939 in Pocahontas, she was the daughter of the late Reuben Daniel and Myrtle Jeffery Perry. Jean was raised in Nemours, WV before relocating to Pocahontas in 1968. She was a 1956 graduate of Bluefield High School.
She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Perry, and her son-in-law, Bobby Goodman. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 51 years, Donald Boone, and her three children, Debbie Goodman of Nemours, WV, Eddie Calfee and wife, Rosie of Tullahoma, TN, and Donna Cornett and husband, Jimmy of Horsepen, VA, as well as one brother, Bobby Perry and wife, Bea of Bluefield, VA. She doted on her nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren who affectionately called her Manny.
Jean was known for her friendliness and her love for her small town. She never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew her. She was a dedicated public servant and served on the Pocahontas Town Council for more than a decade. She was instrumental in organizing many events for the town including the annual Fourth of July fireworks celebration.
The family would like to thank MSA Hospice and caregivers for their service.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic and concern for the health and safety of her family, a celebration of life and memorial service will be held at a later date and time.
